Hickory sets a trap to try and stop Turner before he reaches him, but Turner is able to defeat the three wolf assassins and is then able to kill the rabbit king himself. Using a wide variety of combat techniques, Turner then battles wolves and hostile rabbits across grassland, snow, and desert landscapes. He then vows to the other rabbits that he will meet with the Alpha wolf, and if need be, kill him. After learning the terrible truth, Turner confronts the rabbit king and takes power in a bloodless coup. To secure the deal, he sent Jack, one of his loyal servants, to trick Turner into killing the rabbit raiders as they would be the only real resistance that the wolves would have to their control. The rabbit king Hickory has agreed to this takeover, providing that the wolves do not harm him. That way they can conserve their food supply. Not wanting to make the same mistakes as before, they plan to enslave the rabbit kingdom rather than randomly attacking any that they meet as they usually do. The wolves from a nearby island killed all of the rabbits who lived there, and have come to Turner’s to find more food.

Overgrowth PlotĪfter his family and friends are murdered by rabbit raiders, Turner embarks on a quest of revenge, only to uncover a deeper plot that threatens the entire Lugaru island. With no HUD, the player must rely on visual cues to determine Turner’s health most notably the character’s posture and the darkness and blurred vision. The player can also perform disarms, reversals, and counter-reversals. The fighting system is based largely around close combat, and in many cases incorporates knives, swords, and bo staves. Use of environment has been alluded to on the official blog, with such scenarios as grabbing a staff from a tree to defend oneself, or using a river to foil the scent of hunting wolves-also hinting at survival elements Hand-to-hand combat comprises most of Lugaru’s gameplay, although the game rewards stealthy approaches. Another system highly likely to be included in Overgrowth is the reversal system. Every attack depends on the player’s pace and position. In Lugaru, context-sensitivity meant that, for example, standing up after ducking a spin-kick would have the player grab their opponent’s leg and reverse their attack, or that the player could tap jump to lightly dodge an opponent’s sweep. A few posts in the game development blog also hint at a wide array of sharp weapons that vary between in-game species and classes. If so, its fighting system will be based around context-sensitive attacks, reversals, high mobility and reliance on environment. If you hold shift and right click you do the manipulation on only one axis.Even fly around as a bat, there’s probably already a mod that makes that happen. If you use the left mouse button the manipulation is global (scale it in all directions for example), while the right mouse button is specific (scale it on only two axises for example). The manipulation of objects is really easy to grasp, you click and drag at the corners to scale the objects, the edges to rotate it and the faces to move it. This also conserves memory as the textures for each model only has to be loaded once. This way they won't have to make as many models while still having flexibility, the same model that is used as a pillar can be used to make some stairs, or the corner of a house. Wolfire are trying to make their map making system as flexible as possible, so instead of having many house models, they have a few wall models, window models, door models and so on, that can be combined to create unique structures. When making your map you can use World Machine 2 to make your heightmaps and terrain textures, when you have your heightmap and texture you can load up the editor and start adding models.
